tThe Cultural Folk Art Company has been created to help promote the teachings of cultural artists.  The presentation of this site has been Inspired by master paper cutter, Olga Ponce Furginson and the work she has performed throughout her career.

Paper cutting, as an art form, has been a part of just about every culture on earth.  This form of art has evolved from simple designs that were punched or cut from flat, plain, pieces of paper, to intricate designs that are simply amazing.  Olga primarily cuts a style known as Papel Picado, a form of Mexican paper cutting that is used to celebrate events such as Dia de los Muertos.  Translated to English, it is commonly known as Day of the Dead.

When looking through the gallery, at first glance, it may appear that the artwork may be a simple black line painting. Upon closer inspection of the work, you will find it to be black paper cuttings mounted to the surface of a background.

We are looking forward to sharing the ways and means for you to get involved with this cultural art -- the hands-on part -- the part that's fun!
